We primarily strive to reach girls and boys aged 9 – 17 years in selected urban and peri-urban areas across the country. Additionally, we focus on retailers, parents / caregivers and community members.

What we offer

Aware.org's interventions in schools across the country educates and encourages learners to stay alcohol-free. Aware.org partners with schools to offer sports, physical education, life skills and academic support in disadvantaged communities. These programmes boost learners' physical health, emotional wellbeing and critical knowledge. Empowering them to navigate their challenging environments and guide specifically on issues such as #NoToUnderageDrinking, gender awareness and sexual health.

Understanding Youth & Alcohol: The Voices of Tomorrow

Commissioned by Aware.org, this national research explores how South African teens (ages 11–17) perceive alcohol harm reduction programmes and underage drinking campaigns. Conducted through over 1,100 interviews, the study offers powerful insights into youth behaviour, media influence, and the messaging that resonates most with young people. It’s a key step in shaping a safer, healthier future for the next generation.
